rcb280z Posted May 20, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 20, 2013 So, my wife and I were at breakfast today at a place in Ventura CA. I had parked the 280 out front and I could see it from inside the restaurant. There was a group of guys sitting behind us and all of a sudden one of them said, Oh my there's one of those million dollar Japanese cars!" We started looking for the vehicle they were talking about. I didn't see anything that was worth a million bucks. Then another one of the guys said, you mean the Datsun sitting there. I hear this guy say, yes the one parked right there. I turned around and he was pointing at my 280! He went on to explain how one just sold for 1.2 million! (didn't catch where). And how "bitchin" those cars are! He keep talking about it and seemed to have a fair amount of knowledge regarding the Z cars but, a million bucks! After we left the restaurant I was thinking about it some more and I said to my wife, Damn I should have asked him if he wanted to buy it! Haha, I could have bought several Z cars after that. I couldn't place the accent but they were not american. Just had to share this with you.
Zedyone_kenobi Posted May 20, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 20, 2013 He was referring to the toyota 2000GT that sold for 1.15 million at auction. His enthsiasm is great, but his attention to detail is a bit off.
Mikes Z car Posted May 20, 2013 Share #3 Posted May 20, 2013 A million is a good price. I like that the looks of that Toyota. I was driving last weekend where there was one other car following me and someone on the side of the road shouted boy you have an awesome car! I looked around, wasn't sure they meant my car but I share their enthusiasm if that was the case.

tlorber Posted May 20, 2013 Share #5 Posted May 20, 2013 He might have meant a million yen.I will say though, that yesterday I went to a Ferrari Concours in Old Town Pasadena. Naturally there were some incredible cars. Apparently Sage Nissan was one of the sponsors, so there were a '71 Z and a low windshield roadster parked right there among the prancing horses. Talk about validation!I told my wife "See, you have 2 of the same cars that made it in the show, so back off about the Ferrari thing." She didn't quite get the humor.
