Play in rear wheels?

play in rear wheels from top to bottom.found this on alighment.

tech said i need new wheel bearings.

should there be any play or is this normal.

thanks. wanted to know before i let tech repair.

There should be almost no play. Make sure that your struts are tight in the tubes. Sometimes the gland nut comes loose. Also make sure that the bushings aren't worn. Get a friend to watch while you move the wheel so he can see exactly where things are moving.

Just had a 73 in here with loose rear wheel movement. Turns out the bearings are fine, but someone, somewhere had them apart before and didn't torque them properly. I pulled it all apart, re-packed bearings, cleaned, reassembled with correct nut torque and resulting rotating torque, everything is now 100% play free.
