Posted May 23, 201311 yr comment_424067 Can anyone tell me if the original 240z steel wheels are still available from Nissan?I am also curious about the hubcap type. I have a Series II 240z manufactured in 5/71 and was sold as a 1971 model. Does anyone know if my 240z should have came with the "D" style hubcaps or is the later "Z" style correct for my production month/year?I always assumed the the "D" style hubcaps were specific to Series I 240's but my early Series II share many of the same parts. Thanks,Matt Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46619-original-steel-wheels/ Share on other sites

May 23, 201311 yr Author comment_424069 Hi Dennis. Do you consider your 4/71 a series II? Do you have the rear hatch vents?Matt Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46619-original-steel-wheels/#findComment-424069 Share on other sites
May 23, 201311 yr comment_424072 Hi Dennis. Do you consider your 4/71 a series II? Do you have the rear hatch vents?MattNo hatch vents, holes in the steering wheel spokes, circular outside vent openings covered by round chrome emblems, tool compartments accessed through hatch doors in the cargo area floor, radio antenna vertical rocker switch, Summer/Winter flap on air cleaner snorkel as it came off the showroom floor.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46619-original-steel-wheels/#findComment-424072 Share on other sites
May 24, 201311 yr Author comment_424073 Yup that's how mine is configured as well. So is it safe to assume that all Series I and Series II cars came with "D" style hub caps? I am also aware that there was an early and later version of the "D" style caps.Matt Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46619-original-steel-wheels/#findComment-424073 Share on other sites
May 24, 201311 yr comment_424089 Yes, the 'D' hubcaps were used (in the two different versions) for both the '70 & '71 model years. The 'Z' style started in '72 (about 8/71 build date) through the end of the '76 280Z. May 24, 201311 yr Author comment_424106 Thanks Arne. I was going to PM you because I heard a rumore that you were a wheel expert (among other this I'm sure). Now the big question. Will you sell me your NOS caps you bought a while back, , just kidding, sort of. May 24, 201311 yr comment_424118 Now the big question. Will you sell me your NOS caps you bought a while back, , just kidding, sort of.Never hurts to ask. But I sold those quite some time ago. The only Z-related stuff I've got left is a bunch of original Japanese light bulbs (Life and Toshiba, mostly) salvaged from the three cars. Dunno what to do with those.
