Posted May 29, 201311 yr comment_424404 Guys, I am looking to purchase a NEW vapor recovery hose for my 72 240 Z. There are three (3) and I have the other two (2) new in my hand. I am looking for 17235-E4101 (see pic) it has the largest inside and outside diameter of the three hoses. The following suppliers are presently out of stock: Nissan including Courtesy and Chesapeake; Motorsport; Banzai Motorsport and eBay. So now I turn to you the true professional parts finders Any help is appreciated. Thanks, David Jacks Motorsport! May 30, 201311 yr Author comment_424441 Jim D "Zup",Thank you for the lead. The hose you pointed outs is one that I already have and is available through Nissan. It is similar in that it has a "crook" at one end but is shorter in length, does not have a second bend and is smaller in diameter. Thank you for checking this out on my behalf. Have a great day. May 30, 201311 yr comment_424453 David, I found this from my records by someone named KMack on this site when I did my 280 tank hoses:"I bought 5' of the 5/8" and 8' of the 1/2" hose when Idid mine just to be on the safe side. To make the 180degree bend you'll need a piece if 1/2" OD steel tubing(preferrably stainless) about 6" long. (Do not usecopper tubing! The fuel will degrade the copper overtime and could ruin your fuel system.) You canprobably find a place that sells this (plumbing shopwould be a good place to start) and they'll most likelybe able to bend it for you. I used a bench mountedvise. Painfull and time consuming, but it worked. Onceyou have the tubing bent, just slide it in the 5/8" hoseand hook it all up. It's pretty easy from there."Dave Ruiz Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46658-need-or-wtb-17235-e4101-fuelvapor-recovery-hose-72-240z/#findComment-424453 Share on other sites
May 30, 201311 yr Author comment_424487 Dave, Thank you ... great idea and exactly my back-up plan if I cannot find the OEM part. Also wondered if something off a later Z (280Z) may work if I had to splice it? Any ideas? Thanks again - great idea with the hose and metal tubing. May 31, 201311 yr comment_424489 If you haven't found one - according to my latest inventory I have it. Send me a PM or E-Mail and I'll confirm.. I don't recall any of them having a "second bend"..beck@becksystems.comBTW - the drawing of the fuel tank - in the Parts Manual is incorrect. That 180 degree bend goes on the fuel tank - because that vent opens to the Left side of the car {not as shown opening to the Right side} So you need that formed hose to make the 180 degree turn without kinking..FWIW,Carl B.
