Posted May 30, 201311 yr comment_424463 Hi all, I'm having trouble keeping my 75 280z to stay running so I'm attempting to go over the car making sure all the connections and lines are good and found one wire that was just hanging. I believe it to be the Temp switch, not sensor if I'm not mistaken. I've read that even this little guy can cause the car to run poorly or not run at all.... In my case I need to have my foot on the gas to stay on but even so its very rough and dies. If you guys have any tips of a possible cause that would be fantastic. As of now can you fellows point me to this switch, I've found some online but they all look the same and are mostly always listed as the temp sensor not switch. I looked on Rock Auto but again not sure which part number it is. Thanks! June 6, 201311 yr comment_425043 If your photo is attempting to illustrate the brass hex, in the near center of the photo (up to 7/1975) ,which is missing the wire, that's the water temp switch. June 23, 201311 yr comment_426184 I can't really see the "hanging" wire, but the switch wire is definitely broken off. I'd definitely replace it before continuing your troubleshooting. June 28, 201311 yr comment_426560 The temp switch you are refering to is related to the ignition timing if I'm correct and has something to do with ignition advance when cold. I disabled the one on my 75 with no issues, but I also have the dizzy from a 79ZX. The part if I remember correctly is unavailable for the 280, but can be found for a 260 and is the same part.
