Posted June 12, 201311 yr comment_425461 I was surfing around on Hemmings and came across these. June 13, 201311 yr comment_425475 The first '71 Z ad sports what appear to be flat top carbs, an aftermarket outside mirror, and velour upholstery as part of its "restoration".Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46758-some-interesting-and-expensive-zs/#findComment-425475 Share on other sites
June 13, 201311 yr comment_425484 I didn't see any engine compartment pictures of the red 71, but the yellow one clearly has round-top carbs. It does have "aftermarket" seat covers however... June 13, 201311 yr Author comment_425485 I noticed that several of the cars had items that were not correct. They all look pretty clean, but from what I have seen most clean Z's don't trade in these price ranges. The 280zx even more so... June 13, 201311 yr comment_425499 While I like to see the prices of Z's going up, I have to agree some of these cars are grossly overpriced. In particular, the white '73 going for $27,500 states the "Documented mileage: 195,000". Although the 280ZX also seems overpriced, it's a nice looking car!Robert S. June 13, 201311 yr comment_425502 but the yellow one clearly has round-top carbs....My error if they're round top. June 13, 201311 yr comment_425522 I think a documented and show room new - ie "perfect" 240Z with 1200 original miles would bring $45K or perhaps quite a bit more..Other than that - I agree - these guys are dreamers.. but it never hurts to ask. June 13, 201311 yr comment_425535 I don't see anything wrong with the asking prices for the yellow '71 or the white '73. The yellow '71 has provenance if it is, in fact, the R&T car - and it could be - looks just like the car from the Hemmings article but not so much the February Road & Track. Hmmm... The white '73 might be a little high priced but that's what really nice clean cars have been going for. Nice clean cars were being snapped up in the $20K range five years ago. I have to agree with Carl (although I don't know where he thinks he's going to find a car with 1200 miles) that a 'perfect' car would be able to demand the price range he mentions. June 13, 201311 yr Author comment_425537 I was looking trying to find out what well restored cars go for. I am all for the cars going for good money. I have seen very few sell in that price range recently, 5 years ago many car makes were higher but many have since retraced a lot of that.
