Need some paint help

I about have the Z ready to paint. The car color will be "Lemon Ice" which is a very bright yellow. I was going to paint the under side of the car black and the wheel wells black. I was also planning on blacking out behind the grill. My question is where do I paint yellow and where do I stop the yellow. Do I paint the whole front clip yellow and just black out the wheel wells and the radiator support? Do I paint the underside of the front rails black instead. What would you paint yellow on the inside? All of it? Some of it? None of it? I plan on using a lot of sound mat so I don't know what makes the most sense. Every thing will be epoxied primed to get started...

Thanks, Charles

Lemon Ice sounds delicious, looking forward to a pic of the finished car. If you want to stay with a factory-style scheme, the car will be one color all over including underside, wheel wells, inside the shock towers, ...etc.

I've attached a pic of the blackout for the radiator support. From the factory, this was a satin finish but I went with glossy for easier maintenance. I also went with a black underside and started it right where the firewall transitions into the tunnel at the tranny mounts. My wheel wells are body color, not black- it seems to highlight the wheels and tires better..

Your car, your choices.

Thanks, Jim

That picture was exactly what I was looking for. The black is only on one side of the radiator support, correct? I had thought about keeping the wheel wells black because I thought they might look better than "dirty yellow". I don't know?

On the radiator support, yes - only the front side gets a blackout.

Here are a couple of in-process shots of my front fender wells. I took the shock tower down to bare metal and POR-15'ed it, then masked that area and sprayed truck bed liner as an insulating layer. That will give you an idea of an all black fender well. Don't forget - mud and dirt also shows on black. I painted the shock tower and front side of the footwell with a special paint I had made up, then dusted the fender well with body color.

I hope this helps a bit with your decision process.

Right click in the picture then select "Copy Image", then paste in your pictures file. Then when making a post go "Advanced" then select the file and upload it then drag down to the bottom row and click "Done" in the bottom right corner. I think I got that right, I'm celebrating Father's Day without any kids!
