Posted June 20, 201311 yr comment_426008 Hi all, my questions are: what type of hardware is used on the lower rear of the fender where it wraps under the body?...There don't seem to be any weldnuts in the holes that are down there, well at least on my car. Was there some kind of "special" hardware used down there? Should there be weldnuts inside the body? The area is inaccessible to get a nut on a bolt down there. Thanks for your help!...Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46807-fender-hardware/ Share on other sites
June 20, 201311 yr comment_426010 At the end of the rocker panels there are two nuts welded inside the rocker to receive the bolts thru the lower edge of the fender. Many times those bolts are rusted up tight and I have actually broken the nuts loose from the welds inside the rocker panel trying to unbolt the fenders. I don't know if I have a good solution for you though...Charles Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46807-fender-hardware/#findComment-426010 Share on other sites
June 20, 201311 yr Author comment_426031 Yeah that's pretty much what I figured, Pat. I'll have to look into some kind of blind hole fasteners. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46807-fender-hardware/#findComment-426031 Share on other sites
June 20, 201311 yr comment_426037 Please post back here what you did if it works, maybe with a picture. One of the bolts on my lower fender broke off as I was unbolting all the bolts one at a time to apply anti-seize.
