Value of "sissy bar"

I have a rear bumper from a 72, that has the extra bar on top of the regular bumper, which guys around here call the sissy. Does it add value? I am considering getting it cleaned and chromed and will try to sell, if I don't decide to keep it for my other 72.

It's an over-rider bar.

Some folks like them, some don't. They aren't particularly in demand.

To me the real value is whether or not it protects your car. Mine had them front and rear. The rear one protected my taillights in a parking mistake, and is still ok; the front one bent over and crunched the front of my hood in a very minor incident - the stupid thing cost me a lot of time with the hammer, bondo and hi-build primer - it would have been no damage except to the bumper without it.

Down here (NZ) we used to call these things 'Nerf' bars.????

Rear bumper was pushed forward 8+ inches. The inflated spare distributed the crash forces and prevented further damage. Both Tail lights were undamaged.
