Door lock issue, advice needed

So I bought a 73 240z and the driver side door lock won't go down when using the key. It will just go down a 1/4 inch but not lock. If you have the window down and operate the lock knob by hand you can lock and unlock it without any problems. I've lubricated what parts I could see, and sprayed lock de-icer inside the lock. That didn't work. I'm assuming at this point Ill need to remove something to clean better?

The driver door skin was replaced at one point. I can snap pictures of anything if needed.

Please don't tell me to search, I've been searching for the past couple weeks and found alot of good info but no one had my exact problem that I could find. Thanks in adavance

If your '73 is anything like the earlier models, pull the interior door panel and look at the mechanism for a tubular-shaped white nylon adjustor near the lock. It will be on a rod about 1/8" diameter. Move the adjustor further onto the rod in small increments until you get the needed movement on the key lock. Move it only enough for the key lock to operate smoothly, more is not better.

When the door skin was replaced all the lock parts came out and this adjustment was probably changed.

Mr Knuckle Duster I have a question about the '71 you've sold. Why the hole on the top at the back of the air box? Those are 2 nice looking cars by the way, superstitions be damned.

Thanks, the hole was put there by a previous owner. I think his intention was to add more fresh air or maybe make the carbs sound louder?

Ok I'm pretty sure this is the nut in question. I can barely get my fingers on it and it seems pretty darn tight. The only time I see this rod move is when I pull the door handle. If I operate the lock knob up and down manually this rod and nut has no movement..
