July 5, 201311 yr comment_426962 My made in July '72 says 2820 pounds on the door jamb tag. It indicates for the Front 1286 and the rear 1534. Does that help? July 5, 201311 yr comment_426966 Factory Service Manual for 1970 has 2300 lbs for the car, given in the General Info. Section. The Factory Service Manual for 1972 doesn't have that info listed. If you look at the 72 spec.'s related to spring rates - the Manual listsLF 562 lbs & RF 604 lbs = 1166 lbs {48%}Rears 635 & 635 = 1270 lbs {52%}2436 totalFWIW,Carl B. July 6, 201311 yr comment_426980 FWIW - R&T listed their 1970 test car's curb weight as 2355 lbs., test weight (w/driver and test gear) as 2769 and weight distribution (w/driver) as 51/49. Factory data always assumed empty car for weigh distribution. July 9, 201311 yr comment_427249 To answer your first post, no. An early 1970 with no fuel can come in mid-2200s without driver. SCCA assumes this for a racing ITS 240Z and assignes its minimum weight as 2345 with driver. My January 1970 came in at 2290. In typical ITS prep with a CF hood and hatch the same car came in at 2120. Weight distribution is typically 52/48. July 10, 201311 yr comment_427301 When I finished the refreshment in 2008, I took the car to the local grain scales. With me in it it came in at 2340 pounds. I weigh 140, no spare, jack, jack handle, chocks, less than 1/4 tank of fuel and all smog equipment removed. So, I figured it weighed 2250 or there about, just 6 lbs off of Blue's first estimate. It is titled at weighing 2500 pounds.Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46894-1972-240z-weight-is-2244lbs-4753-car-and-one-150lb-driver-reasonable/#findComment-427301 Share on other sites
July 10, 201311 yr comment_427304 Minimum weight for a 240Z in ITS is 2430 with driver. I had to add about 80lbs of ballast to get it to meet minimum weight. My car is about 2200lbs with 12 gallons of fuel and no driver. My car is a 1972 240Z.Chuck Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46894-1972-240z-weight-is-2244lbs-4753-car-and-one-150lb-driver-reasonable/#findComment-427304 Share on other sites
July 10, 201311 yr comment_427346 Blue's first estimate was weight with driver. His estimate is good for the car without driver.
