76' 280Z SBC 350 swap springs

Hi everyone, I am new here. I just picked up a 76 280z with a 350 chevy small block from a 70 camaro. The front springs that are currently in the car (yellow) I assume are aftermarket. They have no markings on them whatsoever. They are 100% compressed when the car sits, meaning coil sits on coil all the way up. I need to bring the front end up, looking for about a 1"-1.5" drop from factory to fit my new wheels, right now it has 195/75/14's on the front and are tucked. As you can imagine its super stiff hitting bumps since the springs are so compressed. I was wondering if there are any aftermarket springs available that would support the added weight of the chevy 350 (plus components) & muncie tranny and not be completely squished. Here is a picture of the car with my new wheels on the back and the wheels and suspension that came on the car still on the front. post-29474-14150824906737_thumb.jpg

Believe it or not - the actual difference in total weight between the original L28E and an SBC isn't all that much - so if the coils are smashed flat - they were completely wrong for the car in the first place, or someone heated them up to drop the front.

How you get the exact ride height you want out of your next set of springs - will be pretty much trail and error, no matter who the vendor is.

FWIW,

Carl B.

Thanks a lot Carl, I honestly wasn't aware the factory motor was that comparable in weight to the SBC, thanks for the help!
