Posted July 27, 201311 yr comment_428591 Has any found a easy replacement for the Hitachi A8937 air compressor? My was all working and then the compressor started leaking. All the thread I have read are saying rebuilding them is not worth the money. July 27, 201311 yr comment_428604 good used ones come up on ebay occasionally. Living in houston you probably use the a/c alot so you need a brand new compressor. You can adapt other hitachi's but have to have new hoses that attach to the compressor built. I use the mjs170 on mine. It bolts on and is used in many subaru's and nissan's of the 90. You can still find brand new ones for cheap... errr under 300$. There are later ones with a serpentine belt. You can use that one if you change out the clutch for a v-belt clutch. I got these hoses from the wrecking yard. donor was a 90's sentra and the a/c shop built them so they would fit my 78. Its been 8 years and my a/c still works great. Im in hawaii so i use it every day year round. July 28, 201311 yr comment_428646 You can get a rebuilt one from an A/C supply shop. However, they often only sell to professional mechanics, which is why you should do your best to sound like a mechanic. Hint: it's just a "compressor," not an "air compressor." (It compresses Freon, not air.)
