Hitachi A8937 Replacement Air Compressor

Recommended Posts

good used ones come up on ebay occasionally. Living in houston you probably

use the a/c alot so you need a brand new compressor. You can adapt other

hitachi's but have to have new hoses that attach to the compressor built.

I use the mjs170 on mine. It bolts on and is used in many subaru's and nissan's of

the 90. You can still find brand new ones for cheap... errr under 300$. There are later ones with a serpentine belt. You can use

that one if you change out the clutch for a v-belt clutch.

I got these hoses from the wrecking yard. donor was a 90's sentra and the a/c shop built them so they would fit my 78. Its been

8 years and my a/c still works great. Im in hawaii so i use it

every day year round.

You can get a rebuilt one from an A/C supply shop. However, they often only sell to professional mechanics, which is why you should do your best to sound like a mechanic. Hint: it's just a "compressor," not an "air compressor." (It compresses Freon, not air.)
