Posted July 29, 201311 yr comment_428738 I'm having a hard time finding any information or pictures of the seat belt strap that secures to one of the screws underneath the center console. MSA sells a reproduction. What years did these come factory on? Are the straps supposed to angle back or angle forward? July 30, 201311 yr comment_428745 My 6/73 240z has one, the straps on mine angle forwards to meet the seatbelts from the centered bolt in the center console. July 30, 201311 yr comment_428759 Yep, my lap belts are retractable and the female receptacles are pretty stiff. The strap acts as a limit stop to prevent the female side from falling straight down/forwards between the seats and the transmission tunnel. You can see 'em poking out in this picture, if you can disregard my mess. July 30, 201311 yr comment_428786 My 5/72 has the same setup as Captain Zeros post above. I'm upgrading this weekend to a set of Wesco belts. I had new webbing put into my original seat belts. I have one of those seat belt dohickeys on back order. July 30, 201311 yr comment_428790 I'm having a hard time finding any information or pictures of the seat belt strap that secures to one of the screws underneath the center console. MSA sells a reproduction. What years did these come factory on? Are the straps supposed to angle back or angle forward?I'll try to give you an educated guess. The parts CD offered by Classiczcars, lists two part numbers forthis item. Under the catagory, body, L24, up to 7/73. The first part number is 86823-E8800. E8800part numbers are generally for cars manufactured up to 6/72. The second part number is 86823-N3300. N3300 part numbers are generally for cars manufactured from 7/72 to 7/73. I can tell you that my 1/71 series 1 car did not have this seat belt holder, and part numbers for cars manufactured up to 1/71 generally have part numbers ending in E4100, so my assumption would be that this holder started in use sometime between 1/71 and 6/72. The parts CD does not list any dates of use. Hope this helps.Dan Edited July 30, 201311 yr by AZ-240z Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/47092-240z-seat-belt-center-console-strap/#findComment-428790 Share on other sites
August 2, 201311 yr comment_428968 I put one on my 70, facing forward, with 1600 roadster style belts ( same as early 240, but chrome instead of black ). it may not be stock, but it certainly makes it easier to deal with the non-retracting seatbelts.
