The Way Back Machine- 1972 240z - 113 Froggy Green

I purchased this one-owner cream puff in April of 2012. It was repainted and semi-customized in 1974 and if Scooby Doo had a 240z, instead of a van, it would look like this. My plan was to drive it for a few months and then start on a minor cleanup and engine refresh. The refresh slowly turned into a full blown paint-stripping, nuts and bolts restoration and it has been a blast. I couldn't have made it this far without using this forum as a resource for all things 240z. I will start to post some pics from the last 12 months.

And after 12 months this is where I am today. I have removed every nut, bolt and part from the car, had it stripped down to the bare metal and repainted back to it's original 113 metallic green (plus a few coats of clear).

Is it wrong of me to actually really love the paint it had on it?

Congrats with the car, and it looks like you're doing everything right. She'll be pretty when she's back together.

Thanks. Yes the paint job was actually a cool shade of green. It apparently came from The House of Kolors in California. The racing stripes and the interior were very retro, but it is time to take it back to how it looked when it rolled out of the factory.

The last of the suspension was taken off today and all of the nuts, bolts and washers are off to get replated in cadmium.

Absolutely beautiful shade of green. I dig it a lot. Are you gonna go with a black or tan interior?

Going with a black interior. Since the original owner customized the interior in 1974, every component, except the dash and console, needs replacement. I wanted to go with tan, but I worried that I wouldn't be able to get all of the parts and in the proper shades of tan. Here are a couple of pics of the seats.

Thank you. My first car (purchased a '72 240z in 1979) had the 112 Yellow, otherwise known Lime Green (more like Tennis Ball Green), so I am pretty partial to the greens.

beautiful car. indeed. i love the color as well. my first z was 302/leaf. now... i guess i'm still a member of the green club, just the dark horse of the group. thanks for the pictures, and keep us posted.

Definetly not an amateur resto and definitely not an ordinary garage. I guess why the nice results. I'd like to see that paint job in the sun!
