February 16, 200322 yr comment_26844 I guess brembo brakes and 4WD didn't help the driver avoid the sidways slide into the pole. Wouldn't want to have been in the passenger seat when it hit. February 16, 200322 yr comment_26866 Very good price. Just the engine and the brakes would cost more than the sale price. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4725-already-at-7100/#findComment-26866 Share on other sites

Well actually its US dollars so double the price to get AU dollars ($17200) and still tell me its a good price for a write off. February 17, 200322 yr comment_26883 Yea, totally lucky it was a RHD. If it was a US spec car... that driver would have been dead. That price seems to be pretty high for something that you can't fix and make run again. I guess they could part it out and make more money. February 17, 200322 yr comment_26886 Engine alone without loom in Aus sells for <$7000. One with loom clutch etc goes for alot more. Half cuts are easily in the 10's.Brembo brakes from a GTR are pretty expensive too. Rims are extortionally expensive. The low milage on this engine would fetch a decent price. Now add all the other extra tidbits and you have yourself a very good deal. February 17, 200322 yr comment_26890 But, it looks like that auction is in USA... Double that price for AUD. Thus, this engine should be $3,500 or so.... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4725-already-at-7100/#findComment-26890 Share on other sites

February 17, 200322 yr comment_26893 No doubt you will find half-cuts for that price. Whether they've done 37,000k's or 137,000 is another matter. All I'm saying is that engine is pretty fresh and would fetch a good price, especially in the US with Skylines being a bit rarer. February 17, 200322 yr comment_26896 Yep. but I wouldn't pay $17,000 for one. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4725-already-at-7100/#findComment-26896 Share on other sites
February 17, 200322 yr comment_26902 You're not just buying the engine though. A US importer would have a field day with that car. Double his money in parts easy I'd say.Only thing I don't understand is it says it's got the HICAS traction control system when GTR's come out with the 4wd system called ATTESA??When I got into the Skyline scene (they were still a rarity here then) people were paying $20,000+ for a new GTR engine. Don't know how much they cost brand new now. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4725-already-at-7100/#findComment-26902 Share on other sites
