last spring i had 2 sets of new/NOS S30 240z door sill thresholds with the "DATSUN" impression. i sold a set, then gave a set to a friend in need, because they seemed to be readily available. now i need a set for myself, and can't find any to purchase. typical for me really. anyway... if anyone knows where i might be able to pick up a pair in new condition, the information would be greatly appreciated. thanks ~ rob.

I may be wrong, but I do not believe that the new ones available from Nissan have the "Datsun" name on them any longer. The ones I have seen are identical to the originals but minus the logo.

I think it may be very difficult to find NOS versions of these that include the Datsun logo.

yep... thanks for the help guys. that's the problem. the nissan dealers recently superseded the part number to the later (1977-78 i think) style that doesn't say "DATSUN". as recently as last year i bought a set of the old style directly from nissan of chesapeake, but they can't get them either. i figure somebody is sitting on a set or two that they don't need, or has a new set left over from a restoration that never got off the ground... hopefully. i have a pretty presentable used set, but if i can find new ones...

If you are unable to find a new set, you may want to consider what I did.

I too looker hard for a NOS set of these with the Datsun insignia, but to no avail.

So I sandblasted my original ones down to the bare aluminum and then had them powder coated to match as closely as possible the original finish.

They came out quite well although any dins and dents in the aluminum are still there. Fortunately my originals were in fairly good shape so you have to look pretty closely to see the defects.

Hope this helps.

Just FYI - The last NOS set I saw on EBay went for $275.00 I had a set refreshed by a guy that specializes in that sort of work - by the time he was done I had $225.00 in labor costs - they looked great - but not as good as an NOS set..

thanks carl. i would consider going that high for a NOS set... though i'd feel more sane a little bit lower ;~}. i might consider having mine powder coated, but i doubt i'd go through with it. the problem with mine is that they're actually too nice. they were new a few years back and still in great shape, but i sold the car for a short while, and when it came back they (along with the valve cover) had been polished. perhaps in time they'll dull down to a more factory look, but if i could find a NOS set, i could probably recoup half or more of the cost by selling these...
