Posted August 30, 201311 yr comment_430734 I need some help. Can anyone shed some light on wheel size thats best for my z? I have been told to upgrade to 16inch wheels, but having a problem finding them with 0 offset? I do not want to cut and add finders at this time, but want to escape the 14inch slots and upgrade to larger brakes(including disc in the rear) I'm running 14inch slots with falken 225/60/14 at this time. I just do not what is best? Please advice? Thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/47301-wheeltirebrake-upgrade/ Share on other sites
August 30, 201311 yr comment_430737 Be sure to plan you work - then work you plan. 15" wheel size is very limited with quality tires and if you plan on upgrading to bigger brakes the 15 wheels (depending on what you are doing) will still need wheel spacers to push the wheel out of the way of the caliper. I would go with a staggered tire size regardless of what size wheels you end up running. It will take a lot of research to get all this the way you want it but it will be worth the time involved. August 30, 201311 yr comment_430740 I would spend some time over at Hybridz . Love this site , but there is a thread there titled "show your wheels" or something like that. Usually the posts include sizes. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/47301-wheeltirebrake-upgrade/#findComment-430740 Share on other sites
September 2, 201311 yr comment_431013 My son chose 16" rims for his 77. As you are finding out, most all of them have offset that won't work with our zs. The rims he chose were no different, & I ended up using spacers. September 3, 201311 yr comment_431021 i'm running 16x7 at an offset of 6mm... 205/55/16 tires. no roll/flare... and no rub. i like to be able to rotate, so staggering is out for me. did you have a specific style or brand in mind? September 3, 201311 yr comment_431023 http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/wheels-tires-brakes-s30/23629-sportmax-002-15x8-konig-rewind-16x7.html#post326055Post #36 has the details regarding my upgrade from 14x6 Iron Cross wheels to 16x7 Konig Rewinds with 205/50R-16 Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tires. Note my 240Z has been lowered with Suspension Techniques Sport Springs, lowers the car approximately 1.5" over stock. I have had no issues with rubbing and this wheel tire combination fills the wheel arches nicely. This was the best performance ugrade I have made to my Z. September 3, 201311 yr comment_431044 Drag and Rota both offer wheels in offsets suited for our Z's. They have a great selection of modern styles as well as classic reproductions. September 3, 201311 yr comment_431062 panasport still does as well. both the 0 and the +6 offset when last i checked at 14"-16" diameters. just a subtle point, as all can be corrected for, but the 205/55/16 tire is much closer to the stock rolling diameter (+.52 variance) than the 205/50/16 (-2.74 variance). September 7, 201311 yr comment_431290 Leon - You know what opinions are like..............No, care to explain? My post wasn't an opinion piece.A staggered setup (we're talking smaller front tires here) will induce more understeer and decrease braking traction. It's simple vehicle dynamics...
