September 29, 201311 yr comment_432623 I was the previous buyer. I can confirm that I'm unable to pick up the car given constraints that I was unaware of at the time I agreed to the purchase. The deal checks out, and its a good one. I'm bummed to miss out, but there's hopefully someone out there who can take the car and the huge store of parts off the seller's hands. Time is of the essence, so I encourage anyone nearby, or who is willing to rent a U-haul, to go get this car. You won't be disappointed. September 29, 201311 yr comment_432625 I am talking with Bill and am considering trying to save this project. We talked last evening and are going to follow up in the next couple of days. He said that he did have a couple of other interested parties. I have my 72 FJ40 as my next project. September 30, 201311 yr Author comment_432649 Hi Jerry:It would be great if you could save that project - I'm sure you and your son could have it back on the road in short order... Plus it would be good to see Bill's mind put at ease, given his contributions to the Z Car Community over the decades..At least you are close enough...Carl B. After talking to Bill he did not think my F250 with a cap and my open trailer would work out and suggested I rent a small U-Haul and flat tow the car. I am not a fan of flat towing on the Interstate. I have since acquired access to a 26' enclosed trailer. I am making arrangements just in case no one else steps up. I do not want to see this car lost but it is not something I am anxious to do at this point with my other projects. I do have some ideas what I would do with the car if I do acquire it. I am excited about starting the restoration of my 72 FJ40 this winter. October 1, 201311 yr comment_432759 I am in the Chicago area, not that much farther than Jerry. This would be the perfect retirement project for me. When does he have to have it out of his storage facility? Unfortunately, I have no place to store it for the next 8 years. October 3, 201311 yr comment_432876 Jerry,Let me know if you are going to pass, I could take the car and parts and start the restoration.....all my projects are up to date and with winter coming I need something.I'm sure there are transport companies who would deliver to Knoxville, (or If I can get the time just drive up and get it) so let me know your status as I would never try and sneak this from you. Thanks,Randy Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/47377-must-go-hls30-00201-project/?&page=3#findComment-432876 Share on other sites

I am a little confused. I had made arrangement for a 26' enclosed trailer due to Bill telling me that my capped F250 superduty and my 18' open trailer would not get the job done. I received an email for Bill this morning and made him aware of where I was on 201. On first contact I asked Bill for photos of the car and parts and a list of parts and Bill told me he did not have computer access and could not give me a list or photos. He said that he was limited to emails from his phone. Then today I find that Bill has a facebook page with photos etc. I forwarded the page to a friend who's opinion on Z's I respect for a evaluation of the car and parts. I am waiting to hear back from his this evening. I am glad that someone else will take on this project to be quite honest, I am not overly interested in the low VIN I sold #29, but my son wanted to build a early rally Z clone. I can now finish my current projects, detailing my 72 and restoring my 72 FJ40, then look for a solid body for the clone project. Good luck to the buyer and I hope he keeps us posted on the project. The FJ40 is a true rust free survivor vehicle from the original owner in the deserts of California. October 3, 201311 yr comment_432902 Jerry, Very cool, I love FJ40s! It's very unusual to see a rust-free one. Almost every FJ40 I've ever seen has rust or at least has had rust repairs. They are very similar to 240Zs when it comes to rust.
