Posted September 10, 201311 yr comment_431426 Back story - I've been a Z-lover forever and have had several, including this '73 that I've drug around for nearly 20 years. It's been a "filler" project between other interests and cars but is now - finally - at the paint stage. The other issue is that the build is partially sponsored by Dupli-Color and I'm using their new line of lacquer-based "Color Shop" pre-mixed paints, which come in a rainbow of popular colors. Just for fun though, I decided to custom-mix a color by mixing their Silver Metallic with their Deep Blue Metallic to come up with a unique color which both have pearls in them, adding another dimension. Anyways, I sprayed the inners last week and want to be sure it's not gonna SUCK before I spray the rest this week! September 10, 201311 yr comment_431464 Sorry, e-tek....It doesn't reflect the era of your Z...needs to be more defining and enhance the value of your fine workmanship Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/47379-what-do-yall-think-of-this-color/#findComment-431464 Share on other sites

September 10, 201311 yr comment_431473 I don't mind it. Reminds me of Cinelli Blue (famous racing bike colour from the 80's). The first Z I drove (77 280z) was that colour...sort of: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/47379-what-do-yall-think-of-this-color/#findComment-431473 Share on other sites

September 11, 201311 yr Author comment_431490 All that matters is: do you like it?I think I do..... it has a lot of pearl, so the edges shine differently in the sun. Though I am floored to see Blue's 280 with a very similar color, it's not a classic Z color, so that's partly my problem. September 11, 201311 yr comment_431497 Nah, I think you stumbled across the 280z's paint code: "305 light poly blue". Fred Flintstone invented a super glue in his garage in a similar fashion ...I remember it as a kid:) Edited September 11, 201311 yr by Blue Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/47379-what-do-yall-think-of-this-color/#findComment-431497 Share on other sites
September 11, 201311 yr comment_431498 The colour looks great. When you add the extra coarse metalic you add depth and also the colour reacts differently to light conditions. We added a little coarse metalic to stock silver and there are times you can't tell but under different light conditions the paint pops.I like what you are doing.I am with Carl. Love the silver metalic.Casey Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/47379-what-do-yall-think-of-this-color/#findComment-431498 Share on other sites
September 11, 201311 yr comment_431508 Almost looks like a metallic teal. Not a bad color. Add some clear to a panel and see what you have. I am having a tough choice myself trying to figure out what color I want to paint my 70 240z. I start with black then I go to pearl white then when I get fed up thinking of a color I said screw it im just going to rhino line it haha.
