Apparently someone is restoring the car that won the East Africa Safari Rally in 1970 and 1973:

Am I alone on this? but; I think the car is much cooler in its current post race condition. Restoring it will only strip away the awesome post race patina.

I agree about not restoring. There is the old adage about it only being original once. Having said that, I would hate for it to be hidden away (original or restored condition). Build a perfect replica but keep the original original, body damage, bad paint and all! Am I correct that Nissan has the East African Safari #11 in it's museum?

Oops, wrongo, it is the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally winner car #5 in that collection.

Agree 100%, 'restoring' such a car is almost vandalism.

I'd love to see this car at a future JCCS. I agree about the patina but I have a feeling we're going to like the results.
