I would like to re-chrome the rear bumper. The bumper is in good shape. No pitting and its straight. I was quoted a cost of $1,000. They mentioned that it would be 3 layers. Copper, Nickel and Chrome. Is this out of line or is this an acceptable cost for something like this.

Thanks

Larry

Consider the Harrington group stainless bumpers.

I thought about re-chroming mine but after getting quotes similar to yours, decided against it and couldn't be happier with how they look. The purists will poo-poo this approach because they aren't original but they look great and should outlast the car.

Yep, raw materials are VERY expensive now. If you are considering it, do it now. Wont be long and you will not be able to chrome anything here in CA, from what I understand.

Thy these guys. Tricityplating.com - Show quality triple chrome plating with a Lifetime Warranty on all bumpers. They do good work and it's not expensive. They did both bumpers from my 1970 Road Runner for about $700.

Their quote for a Z rear bumper is $400.00 including dent removal. Great price in todays market and they stand behind their work. I am getting ready to send them two rears in November.

They'll be at the Carlisle Fall Swap Meet Oct 2-6. I'm dropping off a set of 1971 240Z bumpers. Hmmm...I should drop off my 1971 510 bumpers too.
