Posted October 2, 201311 yr comment_432842 56-1410 - K&N Custom Assemblies, Custom Racing Assembly direct from K&N Approximately 20yrs ago, I purchased K&N chrome air filter assemblies through MSA for my 240Z. Motorsport! K&N Air Cleaner, 70-72 240Z S.U. Carburetors - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts I recently removed the filters to clean them and noted that the points where the screw rods that connect the front and rear plates of the chrome housings are attached to the rear plate, have cracked. Consequently the screw rods are loose, making installation very difficult (i.e. screw rods are out of position and move around) and also allowing air to enter the carbs through the cracks and around the ends of the screw rods vice through the air filters (siliconed as a temp fix). A secondary issue is that the chrome plating on the rear plates of both housings has corroded and looks really bad. So I checked the K&N website to see if I could purchase new chrome housings as the filters are still good. Through the K&N website you can buy the filters or the complete assemblies (i.e. filters and chrome housings) but not just the chrome housings. So I sent an email to the K&N tech line asking if I could purchase two new chrome assemblies. After exchanging a few emails with one of their Product Specialists, K&N is shipping me two new chrome housings for my K&N filters, free of charge!!! I was so impressed with K&N's customer service that I had to post my experience on this forum. October 2, 201311 yr comment_432843 I had a similar experience with my K&N cool air intake and filter assembly for my F250. I called to see if I could order some replacement fasteners for the corroded ones and they sent me a complete installation kit free of charge. That will make me a return customer!
