Does putting a small block chevy in a Z drop it's value?

I would not call a 77 not collectable, I would call it not as collectable- more people will pay more money for an earlier Z given both are in the same condition.

As far as long term resale value goes, there is no way you can get a better value from ANY car than its stock condition. Look at the recent Barrett Jackson auction as an example, the high dollar cars were the cars that were restored to their original condition.

Collectors and true enthusiast want cars in stock Original condition. If you want a faster car with throw your head back power then throw a v8 in and hang on. My v8 had 375 hp and the skid marks where not only left on the road if ya know what i mean...

Can't agree. I also saw resto-mods going for high 6 figures when stock examples were in mid 5 figures. It was the quality of the work and quality of the parts in the resto-mods that made them so desireable.

They had a v8 240 go for 4,500 on berret jaksons one year...i cant remember If it was this year or last.

I prefere to keep them stock myself...But of course you buy a 32 ford with a stock top spead of maby 50 miles per hr. zWho the hell would want to keep that stock? Through a big V8 in that and leave the z alone.

I think the most relevant factor to how valuable a V8-240Z would be is how well it was done, or who did the installation. Any hack job is less valuable, even for 900 Hp, compared to a beautiful job on a 250Hp rengine.

Because: most people, IMO, buy the 240Z because of it's unique looks & sportiness, like I did (for a 280Z).
