Posted October 11, 201311 yr comment_433482 I already have black paint missing off my hood emblem, and it's only a little over a year on the hood and hardly driven. Suffice it to say that I'm disappointed. WTF kind of crap are they selling out there. I didn't get this at a dealer, but it was in a Nissan parts box so I guess it makes no difference. Anyone else have this happening? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/47680-datsunnissan-emblems-and-badging/ Share on other sites
October 11, 201311 yr comment_433484 I wouldn't be shocked if it were stock. If it were NOS, that is at least 30 years old, and it was never great quality to start with. I used a Rustoleum Plastic paint, sprayed the whole thing, then went back over it with thinner on a q-tip to remove the paint from the Z and the rim. Worked well. October 11, 201311 yr Author comment_433486 I don't think it was NOS, the box said Nissan. But you'd think it would last at way more than a year, especially since the car was hardly driven. It's not a daily. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/47680-datsunnissan-emblems-and-badging/#findComment-433486 Share on other sites
October 11, 201311 yr comment_433490 I recently repainted all my emblems for a third time (~ten years and ~30,000 miles between repaints), using Tetsor's enamel model paint. Works well and much cheaper than replacing emblems. October 11, 201311 yr Author comment_433495 I get that guys, just wondering why Nissan quality sucks so bad. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/47680-datsunnissan-emblems-and-badging/#findComment-433495 Share on other sites
October 13, 201311 yr comment_433637 I'll second the use of model paint. It works and lasts very well. For what it's worth, you have to remember that these were not expensive cars. Quality of things like emblems is one of the areas where compromises were made.
