Posted November 1, 201311 yr comment_435049 Made a hard decision today, don't know if it was the right decision but I own it now.:paranoid: While sourcing parts for my car I sent out the original AM/FM radio for clean and repair to B/C electronics in Pennsylvania. It ended up only needing a tune and clean and for just under $200.00 I was confident that I would have a good working original radio in my 72, and it is. Recently while going through all of my extra parts collected throughout the years I came across two original radios with excellent face plates, knobs etc... One is an early AM auto search model from one of the first 700 cars and the other is an AM/FM from a 72. I removed the antenna switches, face plates and knobs and sent them in to be checked out by B/C. Shortly after, I received a call and the short of it is the estimate for the total repair for both radios was around $800.00. I asked that they give me a chance to think about it. After a couple of weeks I made the call today and gave them the go ahead. I decided that I would hate to see these original radios scrapped. Saving Zed's one bolt at a time. November 1, 201311 yr comment_435059 For that price they should be near or close to perfect when done. I hope it is worth it. If your getting that redone I hope you are having the cone on the speaker redone also, that is a lot cheaper. November 2, 201311 yr comment_435102 As long as the Face Plates were perfect - having $400.00 in each radio is reasonable. I would have done the samething...Carl B. I would have done the samething...Carl B.I have approximately 6 of the Hitachi 240Z AM/FM radios and 2 of the 240Z AM radios plus a few of the 260Z/280Z radios that I have purchased over the years. The only problem is that I don't have enough good face plates and knobs for all of them.
