really like what I have read so far. The forum seems great... fairly laid back, friendly, and helpful. Hopefully I will be able to add some knowledge at some point. This is my first Z, shes fast asleep waiting for spring, and Im just trying to read as much as I can.post-29818-14150826453214_thumb.jpeg

Im stuck in the middle east for a bit longer, and seeing all of your beautiful cars is agony since I havent even got to touch mine yet. At least hopefully with what I learn from all of you I will have a better understanding of the direction I want to take mine.

thanks man! It is a '72 with an L28 and 5 speed trans. It also has a new R180 diff, however I dont know if its open or LS. I realize the easiest way to determine this of course, but I would prefer I was the one dumping the clutch rather then the gentleman I purchased it from. post-29818-14150826453412_thumb.jpg

The limited slip can be checked in a gentler manner. With both rear wheels off the ground spin one tire forward. If the opposite tire spins in the opposite direction it is an open diff, if it spins in the same direction it is a limited slip...

thanks alot everyone!! Yeah it will definately be nice to wrench on something that doesnt require a laptop. (unless I decide to fuel inject it later of course)

GeoJoe, I dont want to mis represent myself or anything, Im not in the military. Im embedded with the unit for direct support of their vehicles, unfortunately that means where they go I go, and you can imagine the stupid places that has been in the last 10 years.

Charles, thanks man yes I know... of course the proper and correct ways of doing things dont always put a smile on your face :classic:
