Turns out the resistor is only a noise suppressor. Perth 240 other option is to upgrade to 50 amp alternator which is what I am thinking of doing.

is the 50amp alternator off a later model L motor, or somewhere different? Is it a direct bolt up, or is there some mucking about?

Can't tell if you guys are driving 240K's or 240Z's but the 60 amp alternators from some of the late North American market 240Z's, 260z's and 75-77 280Z's used a 60 amp alternator with the external voltage regulator. Should be a straight bolt-in.

Thanks Zed Head, we both have 240k's. 60 amps would be great, mine doesn't stall but I do get some good fluctuation on my amp meter at idle(before and after ignition upgrade).
