i was watching it for a while. great story indeed. it does deserve a full and proper restoration from what i can see... but it's not going to be a particularly "easy" one. concerned about the previous damage repair, including the switch to the '73 bumpers, and the closer i looked the more some of the initially striking original aspects faded. small but important things like the condition of the D hubcaps, and the addition of a switch of some sort in the spot on the dash that should be a blank indent on the early cars to the right of the steering wheel. nothing that i could see is insurmountable, but there's much work to be done, and time and irrecoverable money to be spent. so... in other words, just like most every other restoration project. ;). i do hope she finds a good home. she was bought new on the exact day i was born. maybe if i win the lottery within the next day or so...

The rear bumper is upside down.
Sharp eyes!!

Be having to accommodate the tailpipe it doesn't appear from the pictures that Fred had an alternative.

Looks like Fred replaced the rear center piece with a '73 rear piece and reused the original '70 thru '72 rear bumper guards. As Dr. 240Z mentioned, he had to install the guards upside down in order to accommodate the exhaust pipe.

I would assume that this was done about the same time Fred's wife backed into the car and he had to replace the hood, fender and the front bumper with parts from a '73 240Z.

Great story on this car! The interior is very original and I like the car's 919 Yellow paint under the silver respray and hope that whoever buys it restores it to the original color. However, whoever buys this car is going to have to invest a substantial amount of money. With the rust issues underneath and other areas, the prior front end damage (possible in the rear as well) and the fact that it hasn't been started for over 25 years, would have me very concerned. It really depends on what you would have to pay for the car. Personally, I wouldn't spend more than $3k including transportation.
