Mike,

The Nissan Hardbody was produced for the US market from 1986 1/2 to 1997 and yes they were pretty "square" in design. The Frontier came out in 1998 and this was the beginning of the rounder body design for the Nissan trucks. I bought my 1997 Hardbody in September that year, so it had a $2000 dealer rebate in order to make room for the new Frontiers. If it wasn't for the rebate, I wouldn't have had enough money to purchase the truck. It's the best vehicle I've ever owned and even though it came with the 2.4 L engine, it's stood up to every challenge I put it through.

The times I've had in this one! Most embarrassing thing was pumping in a few gallons of gas then going inside to pay and coming back out and it was gone. Panicked and thought someone had driven of in it then started hearing horns blow. It had rolled out in the middle of a four lane highway. Always use the parking brake with stick shifts. I bought it from a friend of my Dad's that couldn't figure out what was wrong so he bought a new Frontier. The plug in the hole in the clutch pedal that depresses the safety switch had dry rotted out and I wrapped some duct tape around it, hooked up jumper cables and started it then drove it home. $400 ten years ago.
