Down here salt's for Margaritas, we use sand when the roads get slick. Fastwoman you have a winter project that sounds like too much fun. Just this past weekend I installed an 8 camera security system, Night Owl cheapo but it works great, pulled wire for 8 hours in the ceiling of a 40 year old restaurant. It was horrible!

I just don't drive it when there's snow or rain. Who knows might be a mild winter here.. They do go nuts with the salt here, so don't want to drive the old girl through that..

I just start and drive it for short runs on a regular basis in the winter.

I took the 240Z for its Winter fuel fill up this morning. I actually hit a few snow flakes on the way back from the gas station. That's how badly I don't want to put it away.

It's comforting hearing other's in the same boat. I didn't want to push it to the first flakes as they often put salt down as a pre-emptive measure. I was out yesterday in my DD and when I came to one intersection, there was a pile of it sitting there where the truck leaked while it was sitting at a red light.

FastWoman, Naaa. No turbo, just like for like replacement. My current engine runs great, but there's a bunch of non-critical issues that I could fix all at once with a replacement motor. I found a P79/F54 motor from an non-turbo ZX that I was able to see run before I bought it. The current plan is to swap my old motor back into the ZX and sell the whole car off as a parts car. One that will hopefully run well enough that it can drive under it's own power and won't have to be towed.

I'm kinda surprised you didn't jump all over the check valve thing. Let me say it again... I bought a new check valve to thread into my fuel pump and installation is on project list. :tapemouth

No, I didn't miss the check valve, but my brain was dozing and didn't recognize the significance. Pray tell, where did you find a check valve? Or did you figure out how to refurb the old one?

Might drag the '71 down to Norfolk at some point over the winter to get some help on a few smaller items, but otherwise they're tucked away as well.

My Z is in the garage since two weeks. Already started on my winter project list. Now in the process of making and replacing all the fuel line rubbers and thinking of removing the dash cap and restoring the dash.

The roads here are made of ZOAB which is a very porous asphalt. Great for preventing spray in wet weather, but very vunerable to damage when below zero and freezing. The solution is: plenty and I mean plenty of salt.

Mine has been like this for a while now, the covers and cardboard is to keep the cats claws from getting near the paint.

Just rebuilt the car last winter but time for some tweaks to the suspension, brakes, tranny and a new sound system.

It's snowing outside as I type - It's 17 degrees outside with the wind blowing 20+ MPH. I'm done for the year as well as the DOT salted the roads heavy today. Getting ready for winter projects after Christmas..............now the TV is rolling a Winter Storm Warning for my neck of the woods.
