Posted December 1, 201311 yr comment_437179 Has anyone seen a z with the non-hood, non-fender part ( surface covered by the plastic cover) of the headlight bucket painted a different colour. Just thinking and wondering about ways of making an all white ZG theme a bit more interesting. I want to take blue down this road to a white zg but add something more.... maybe light grey like the gnose? December 2, 201311 yr comment_437194 Or Gunmetal gray to match the wheels but 1/2 formula and satin finish. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48062-contrasting-headlight-bucket/#findComment-437194 Share on other sites
December 2, 201311 yr Author comment_437195 I tried photo-shopping. A light blue or grey seemed nice but I'd like to see a real example. The grey sort of looked like tinted plastic. I also thought doing the panel between the hood and bumper would be nice in red but it did not look nice photo-shopped Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48062-contrasting-headlight-bucket/#findComment-437195 Share on other sites
December 2, 201311 yr comment_437216 Grey sounds good - a light dove grey so as not to be a stark contrast, more of a shadow. I agree with you on not doing the panel between hood and bumper. Sounds like an interesting project.Dennis Edited December 2, 201311 yr by psdenno Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48062-contrasting-headlight-bucket/#findComment-437216 Share on other sites
December 2, 201311 yr comment_437230 NOrmally I do not go for this stuff, but try some plasti-dip and paint you existing headlight buckets. Then take some pics, look at it in the light, then you just peel it off. NO harm done. December 2, 201311 yr comment_437231 Blue, I'm going to suggest something really low tech, go to the office supply store where they sell all kinds of different colours of construction paper, remove the headlight cover, cut the construction paper to fit the curve and re-install the cover. It will give you a good idea of the finished product. Also, you could try the adhesive vinyl that is used on the side of trucks for advertising, test fit with the paper on the back then stick down if you like it. If you ever decide to change it it just peels up. December 2, 201311 yr Author comment_437233 For breaking up the white, so far I'm set on putting series 1 vents with red fill in the circles as well as red centres on the hubs. Still thinking about red mesh on the BBS RS wheels to give a bit more colour. This would be sort of a compromise for red cherry blossom wheels. I'm thinking that removing the side marker lights will make it look nicer with less break-up of the sides. Here is the only coloured light buckets I could find to date, makes me think no for the red in the bucket: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48062-contrasting-headlight-bucket/#findComment-437233 Share on other sites
December 2, 201311 yr comment_437247 Every time I see a Gnose kit I get all wobbly in the knees. I have a good mind to try this! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48062-contrasting-headlight-bucket/#findComment-437247 Share on other sites
