Clutch Issue

To start with the car is a '71 "Z" with 280ZX running gear, motor, 5-speed, R200. I don't know what bearing is installed. Motor runs fine the car won't go into gear, but did shift a year ago when last ran. Before installing the slave I moved the fork back and forth to ensure the bearing wasn't froze up. Changed the master and slave (NAPA), still nothing. Fluid flows from the slave so that tells me there's fluid all the way down the line. During bleeds the pedal firms up but nothing comes out of the slave no air or fluid. Obviously there is no movement at the pushrod or fork. With everything connected I manually actuated the pushrod and can see the fuid in the master respond. I'm stumped, anyone have any thoughts

Can you see any movement of the clutch fork when someone else pushes the clutch pedal in? If there is no air, fluid is not compressable, so it has to move something. It could still have air. The slave should have about 35mm of travel.

I would also check the clucth pedal free travel and the return spring is fitted and working correctly.

The hard to engage gears issue could be a clutch plate sticking to the flywheel. If the slave does push the clutch fork in, try to push the car backwards and forwards with it in gear and the clutch in. If it turns the engine then thats where your problem is. Sometimes rocking the car back and forwards, in gear and clutch in can release it.
