January 27, 201411 yr comment_440476 Are you guys using junkyard RX7 pumps or buying new/reman ones? Around here, RX7's are just as scarce as Z cars and they simply aren't to be found in junkyards. January 27, 201411 yr comment_440477 Jeff, I'm talking brand new, I paid $80 I think. Only you guys in the States get them for $30-40 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48121-carter-rotary-pump/?&page=3#findComment-440477 Share on other sites
January 27, 201411 yr comment_440481 When I installed my RX7 pump it was only putting out about 2 psi on my fuel system, your results may vary, but I went with an internally regulated Mallory pump and it was very quiet and puts out 3.5 psia reliabily. January 27, 201411 yr comment_440484 Zedy, you got a Mallory part number to share with us, for that pump of yours? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48121-carter-rotary-pump/?&page=3#findComment-440484 Share on other sites
January 27, 201411 yr Author comment_440488 I've heard a lot of good about the Mallory pumps, too bad they cost twice more than any of the others. But they supposed to be quiet AND reliable.. cant afford both. February 2, 201411 yr comment_440885 I've got a Mallory pump 4070LP, it is quiet (you can barely hear it at idle) but I've never been able to get more than 2psi out of it for some reason no matter what I was doing to get higher pressure. Despite low pressure, flow was good. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48121-carter-rotary-pump/?&page=3#findComment-440885 Share on other sites
February 2, 201411 yr Author comment_440899 Does anyone have experience of Webcon fuel pump? Made in UK. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48121-carter-rotary-pump/?&page=3#findComment-440899 Share on other sites
February 6, 201411 yr Author comment_441138 Well i now have that new pump. Its the Airtex/Webcon inline "el-cheapo" pump. Supposed to deliver up to 130liters/hour at 5-9psi. Installed it to same place as Dave, at the differential mount. Fits perfectly. Now i just need to tinker the electrics. Im not going to put any fancy inertia switches etc. Too complicated for my brains. February 6, 201411 yr comment_441146 I tried the Carter pump, but removed it due to the noise. It's like someone is using a hammer drill on the underside of the car! I switched to a Pierburg many years ago, It's been faultless on road and track. Pierburg roller cell pump, 1.9 litres per minute @ 3 psi running at 13.8 volts 2.0 amps and supports up to 340hp. February 9, 201411 yr Author comment_441347 This is more electrical related but i wouldnt want to start a new topic. I've now connected the pump to the harness (black and green wire) but i need to know whats next. I suck at electrics so i need some advice. Im not putting any oil pressure switches so can i just skip it and do the rest from this schematic?http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CWjSgwvzsOk/UPRxCc8KrtI/AAAAAAAAAU8/NzKgduH15wQ/s1600/FuelPumpSchematic_v2.JPG Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48121-carter-rotary-pump/?&page=3#findComment-441347 Share on other sites
February 12, 201411 yr comment_441529 Yes, Green to the relay(87) and ignition to relay(86) like on the pic. but you know, if you have an accident, you have to switch off ignition to stop the pump. just saying.
