OK. The Z has been painted. Red 110. Not well but for the most part issues are small hail damage on the hood. I just think the car needs something and I have been looking at a lot of old posts on striping.

I know that this is a preference and some like stripes and some do not. I think I want something and I am currently leaning torward the BRE style stripes.

Any suggestions or photo's would be appreicated.

I am thinking about the BRE style stripes on the front fender and paiting the hood the same color. Not sure after that. Any thoughts on color?

Nobody have any input on what color would look good with the red 110? I would like to paint the hood, roof and hatch a different color. I know black might be obvious but how about white or something in the yellow family.

Another thought would be kind of the same color as the red110 with some tinting.

I suppose much depends on the image you want to convey. Race car? Custom car? Clown car? Stripes and other paint schemes can express an image or an attitude. What's your intention? Have you looked through the archive to see if what others have done squeaks your duck?

People seem to really like my "ghost stripe". You could possibly achieve a similar effect with the same red metallic striping or your solid red.

Not an expert on negotiating the site. Where can I find some good pictures of your ghost stripes? I will check and may find on my own. Does the metalic shine or look like shadowing? I am leaning this way. Something tastefull but add a little something extra. Without the stock bumpers I think the car needs something.

Kind of what I am thinking about. I wonder if I did the whole hood, roof, hatch, and bre style stripes down the front fenders if it would be noticeable. I think I want something noticeable but tasteful.

I am not a paint expert. I have about 1/4 gallon of the Red110 left. Is it possible to add something to get the shadowing effect?

Ghost stripes are done with clear paint, candies, or spray tricks. Paint ideas that would create that look that I think would look good on the red: clear smoke, flat clear, metallic clear, peril-essence, gold or silver flake, red candy mixed with a little smoke color. Their is a technique I like a lot using a semigloss paint and a high air mix to create a velvet like took to the paint, and it looks cool the glossy-ness stays about the same but the strips have this soft look to them.

I was thinking of a cool ghost look, one of the sharper looking paint for accenting the Z lines was on the GT-33s that Bob Sharp Racing produced. I was looking for a good picture of the white and gold one because I thought it would give you the best idea how it would look, but I could not find online with a full body shot with the hood closed anymore. As my car is Silver Metallic, I went with same level of metallic for the stripe, but a slightly darker shade.

My pics really show the stripe well, but it's quite obvious in shade or indirect light, but almost disappears in bright, direct sunlight.

The frontal pic below shows it a bit better, but still does not show as well as when seen with your own eyes... Look down at the spoiler area for the best indication of it's actual appearance.

This is what I want but would like to just add something to the RED 110 that I have left. What should I add or is this even possible. I want to do the hood, roof, hatch area and a couple bre style stripes with black datsun painting in the bre stripes.

Where can I go to get the paint tinted? I am going to try and do this myself with little experience but you have to learn sometime.

Where you bought the paint or any other paint supply that has the brand you have. Different manufacturers use different tint colors. Get a 1/4 of the formula added to what you have, if you want it more distinct add another 1/4.

Don't use all your leftover paint, you'll need it for touch ups. Maybe a pint would be enough?
