IGNORED

Just wow.

That looks really nice. Wish my engine bay looked that clean. Maybe someday...

I don't think I would want to race that gentleman assuming I accurately am recognizing the performance goody (ies?) in the engine compartment unless I were given the option of unhooking a few things on his car first. To improve my chances slightly maybe if I just swiped his ignition coil, heh heh.

If you're recognizing a supercharger, you'd be absolutely right.

Maybe If we put the supercharger on suck instead of blow we'd have a chance. I'd really like to know how a setup like this dyno's, and performs. Particularly compared to a 280zxt swap.

I think that might have already been done! No distributor. Coil packs with lost spark? Coil on plug?

Note the custom configuration of the radiator, so that the top radiator hose would line up perfectly between the radiator and thermo housing. Not practical when the engine rocks, but definitely pretty.

Everything is stripped off the fenders, including relays, fusible links (is it a 280?), canister, washer, voltage regulator, etc., etc.

Very pretty.

I dont think its meant to be road driven and therfore ditched the canister. Probably moved most of the wiringunder the dash somewhere. Looks really clean though.

Looking at the cowl, the grill is also gone so there must be some other method of getting air into the cabin or maybe not?

Can't quiet see what is going on with the brake master cylinder. Just one small tank. Are there any over photo's or a link? Love to see a build thread on it.

I think this car is from rocky auto Japan. It was featured in import tuner. You can find more info online or on their Facebook page.

You are correct. "Datsun Parts" on the ratsun forum also tackled a similar (almost identical) build before selling it as a WIP in 2010.

There are some more photos, and there is a feature on super street with some info about the car. As surfer tech stated, import tuner also did a feature. I did some google searches, but info on this particular car was hard to find.

Had one on the 240 race car several years ago until two of the injectors failed causing 2 piston tops and rings to be eaten alive.

Given the expensive of custom bits and pieces needed to make the system work, the megasquirt unit and the loss of about 20% of fuel needed to cool the supercharger, and the fact we moved into vintage racing where this set-up wasn't allowed, we ended up selling it.

Dyno'ed in around 300hp@crank and could like get another 40 or so more with more tuning experience.

Throttle response was similar to an L-series with say triples but the kick in the pants was more like a turbo but without the lag.

It added a good 50 lbs on the wrong side of the engine bay.

Our race 2.8L made 285@crank (13:1) before giving up the ghost earlier this summer and my 3.2L in the street Z makes 357@crank (12.2:1) w/triples running on 110 & 100 octane respectively.

Those are pretty respectable numbers. I've more commonly seen supercharger builds on the other side of the engine. Seems like a really cool and fairly unique way to add extra power without leaving behind the stock engines, or attempting a ZXT swap. I might do something similar to a future Z.
