Hey i'm new to this site and i'm having some trouble with my 76 280Z

it all started after i changed my starter (all my lights where working fine before changed my starter except my turn signal the switch broke)

now none of outside (quarter,brakes,headlight) lights turn on except the reverse. all my fuse are good just put brand new ones in.

any help/suggestion would be appreciated

oh for got to mention my dash lights do work except for oil/temp

1) Were the lights working AFTER you changed the fuses?

2) Is it possible that you hit a relay on the firewall while changing the starter?

no they werent working and i dont recall hitting any relay

List the order in which you did all of the things in Post #1. Can't tell when you replaced the fuses, before or after the starter change, for example. Did you disconnect the battery before the starter change or try to get by with being very careful?

Also, why did you change the starter? Maybe it wasn't the problem.

okay i replaced the cause it went out. I had to push start my car for 2 week straight the struggle .

3) installed new starter

4) connected battery

5) car turned on like a champ!

that's when i tried to turn on lights and noticed none of the lights turned on. So i decided to change all the old fuses with new fuses. (none of the old fuses were blown just dirty looking)

Check the fusible links. One of them is for the headlights but may also power the running lights.

Or, if you have a voltmeter, check for power at the fusebox at the headlight fuse. If you have power at the fusebox then your combo switch is working but the dimmer switch might have problems (not grounding). If you don't have power at the fusebox, then check for power at the fusible link. It might still have a label on the side that says "HL".

I checked them and they are getting power. Just to make sure those are the fuses under the glove box? Someone told me their is another set of fuses under the hood somewhere

You probably can't see this from your phone. They're under the hood.

The other set of fuses would be the fusible links (or fuses if someone did a maxi-fuse swap).
