Hello all!

I joined here, as the Datsun bug, which has always been there, has gotten bigger now.

I grew up with Datsuns. I was with my dad when his custom ordered '76 2+2 arrived at the local dealer, with the clear covers still over the seats, and was there when we brought it home, to see the low fuel light come on, and have to stop and get fuel! Car is MINT, beautiful, and a dear family friend still has her! I drove her daily for over 10 years.

In high school, in addition to the Mazda 626 2-dr I drove, I used to rip around town in my brothers 1970 Datsun 1600 Roadster.

My dad also had a fully restored 1970 2000 Roadster.

My brothers have had early 1600 roadsters and 510's.

I sold my 1972 510 after I had built it up about 12 years ago. L18 with SOLEX duals etc. Sweet car

I have a 2001 Mustang GT Supercharged and alot of other stuff done to it.

I'm ready to get a S30 to build up.

Anyway, that's me. Glad to be here.

I LOVE Datsuns. Race built. I remember when NISMO was a quick visit to the dealer to order stuff, from hot roding B210's and 1200's on up.

Welcome Joe

Solex-I'd liketo hear about your experience with the twin Solexes. I recently bought a project L26 that came with a set of them. When I showed them to Steve at Z Therapy he said they were DGV Webers. Steve, being an SU fan and dealer, didn't have many kind words to share about them. I'm going to put the L26 on the road with SUs, but since I have the DGVs, I'd like to hear anyone's impression of these that has experience with them. Mark in Portland

I like those Datsun roadsters.

Fortunately for me my dad was a sportscar fan. We had various ones sitting around the house. I never got to drive the 280ZX anniversary edition that he had but got to drive the Porsche 928, the Pantera and a Fiat Spyder 128 (hope I got the name right). All of them were fun for one reason or another.

Welcome Joe and have fun!

SOLEX is like WEBER, in that they made different variants of carburetors.

Mine were dual side drafts. Worked pretty good with a NISMO L7 Rally cam in a bored L18.

Took them off, sold them and went with a brand new DGV on a factory intake and sold the car to my brother. He kept it for a few years and sold to a guy in the Seattle area. '72 2-dr., Orange with 300ZX wheels.

Problem with carbs....is if they are old, then there is a chance of loose and worn in shafts, etc., that can make it next to impossible to get them to work at optimum.

If going carbs, and can afford them, I'd recommend a brand new set of Weber DCOE's (40mm). If rebuilding and doing what is necessary to make them perfect....is is really hard to beat dual SU's for the street (round top 240 style). The dual DGV conversion is for a stock motor.

Flat top 260Z SU's are for emissions, and can be real problematic. Don't walk, RUN from them!

That said, Fuel Injection is the best IMHO.
