Hello all,

My name is Jay. I am an Active Duty soldier of 13 years now. I have recently acquired a new to me 1971 240Z. I have wanted one since I was a teenager and have finally landed one thanks to a good friend of mine who is entirely too swamped with project cars. The ole girl is fairly clean, has all her trim and pieces but needs body work. Luckily I have time and a little bit of knowledge so I will be doing my best to bring her back to life. Here are a few shots of her.

I have some plans as far as paint and such goes, nothing crazy. I am looking forward to learning a lot on here. Thanks Ladies and Gents.

Wow! Touchdown on that ride. Looks to be an original car with dealer add on's, wheels, louvers and the side molding. You've found your new best friends on here, welcome to our club. My Dad did some training at Fort Hood before going for the 90 day war with Iraq back in the early nineties.

Welcome to the group. Looks like a pretty nice ride, you'll have a lot of fun with it. If you ever decide to make a run up into the DFW area, check out the Z Club of Texas. We meet the 3rd Wed. of each month, regularly have a bunch show up for Cars & Coffee the 1st. Sat of each month, plus other regular events. Thanks for the welcome guys! She is pretty solid. Has some cancer, but nothing I cannot fix with elbow grease. Right now she has no engine or tranny. Dont know if its a faux pas on here to say the S word (swap) but I have a fondness for v8s. I think the biggest thing I am happy about is the interior, besides the seats being the wrong color (maroon), it is darn near flawless. The dash is mint, the carpet is in good shape, the headliner is perfect. I have my work cutout for me, but I am just glad to be a Z owner again. I had a 92 300ZX TT a while back with decent HP and great looks. Although Mad Mike was not fond of my "Melon Launcher" exhaust as he called it . Mark, I may hit you up soon. Thanks for the heads up.

I like Clamato better than V8 but to each his own.

Haha, yeah, you can keep both of those . I am a member over there as well. So let me just ask, is this the type of site that frowns on swaps? Or is it socially acceptable? Some people REALLY dont like to stray away from OEM as far as the heart is concerned.

You won't see any frowns (unless you can't stop talking about it) but there won't be much interest either. Hybridz is the swap site. The site names tell the story, classic and hybrid. Pretty simple.

Gotcha First thing is first. Body work. Love the spoiler, not the louvers. Louvers are off already. Think my first investment will be a welder. Fill in all the little holes and such.

Welcome to the Z club and it certainly looks like you scored a really nice ride. And I also thank you for your contribution to our nation's security.

If you are up in Killeen / Fort Hood, I don't think you are that far from Austin and so might want to consider hooking up with some of us from the Capital Z of Texas club (CZOT for short). Although we welcome Z's of any vintage to the club, it is dominated today by the older S30's and so you have a huge wealth of knowledge on the care and feeding of the older Z cars. You can check out the club at czot.org, but we have a pretty good cross section of activities including monthly drives, wrenching days, show and shines, etc.

We are also fortunate to have a Datsun / Nissan specialty shop in Austin called the Austin Z Clinic. The owner is pretty active in the club and also provides great services especially on the older models. He has also done many restorations and so is great resource to have locally as well.

Thanks Mike. Austin is not far at all I just need to get me a 183A Toll Pass. Hate the mailing system . I am super excited to get to work on this thing, but landed myself in bed yesterday after some minor foot surgery. Now I can only read online and think about what I will be doing.
