At the moment, our current chat room is working. But, it's clunky and doesn't support all browsers. So, I'm looking for new chat room packages.

Let me know some of the features you'd like to see in the chat room. One of my favorite features is the ability to detach the chat into a separate window while you continue to browse the website.

Here is another idea for a chat room, but, it doesn't have this ability to detach the chat. I guess you could open another browser window just for chat...

I used that link and it took a little while to log me in (45 seconds or so I'd say) I'm on a cable lin that moves prety fast so it may be real slow on the dial ups.

I like the chat room that we are using now. What would be a cool improvement is if there was a way to tell us if anyone was in the room on the home page. I will confess that I've had trouble getting into the room before, but I think it is an XP related problem (Kept asking me to debug).

I think having the seperate window for chat and having whomever is in chat listed on the main page are both great ideas.

Definatly need the link to the main page showing who is in chat. [like the old way you had it set up].

I've only used the Chat room a time or two, but I might be tempted to go there more often if I could see from the main page who, if anyone, was in the room at a given time.

We're trying to come up with a good solution all the way around.. The biggest issue is showing users from the main page. It can be done, but, there are little querks to iron out.

The example chat room in this message is created with Java. When entering the chat, you must also download a little applet to run on your local computer.

Problem with the applet is supporting users behind a firewall (like at work for instance).

The existing chat room is pretty cool, I like it a lot. But, we've had a few bug reports. Maybe I should stop trying to make everything perfect for everybody and accept the fact that it won't work for all users.

I'll stick to our existing room, it's got the least amount of problems so far. And, I'll see if I can get a 'who's chatting' box on the main page.

Just a question really, but it's not neccessary or imperative that it be included, but what happened to all the extra smilies of sayings that used to be in the chat room?

I really liked some of those. It was kind of fun using them. Just curious about what happened.
