Posted January 26, 201411 yr comment_440425 Does anyone happen to know what the three screws look like that are at the back of a 240Z console? Are they slotted or phillps? The PO of my car had only two screws there and they are different lengths so I don't think they are original. Was there a felt, soft or other washer under the screws? A ta p and die set seems to indicate they are 5MM at .8 pitch and the ones I have are slotted. Any info appreciated. January 26, 201411 yr Author comment_440437 Sean240Z, Blue, an_unusual_eye, Diseazd, Thanks for the information, I am off to the hardware store to see what they have. I will get this console back in after having it and other parts of the interior pulled out for 3 years.Diseazd, looking at your avatar I think that is a real troll. We have a couple in our yard but they are fakes. January 26, 201411 yr comment_440441 crap. correction. just pulled one, and the shaft of the screw is definitely either zinc or cad plated. the head is either faded black paint or more likely zinc/cad aged down to looking like faded black. sorry. January 26, 201411 yr Author comment_440448 No problemo. Thrify hardware here has black countersunk screws that will work though the heads are socket type. The also have zinc plated countersunk screws. To go easy on the fiberglass I think I will use a thin rubber washer under zinc plated countersunkscrews. October 9, 201410 yr comment_456813 Hello,I know your post is old and you have probably moved on from this project and I'm sorry for resurrecting but....I just put these three screws in this past weekend. I don't have a picture or screw size as I am at work but I will post a picture when I get home. The screws were stainless steel and philips with a slightly domed head. They look pretty good. No washer used as the head of the screw sank in just enough to be flush and snug the console down.Do you have a picture of what you used...10 months after you posted this...I'd like to see. October 9, 201410 yr comment_456829 Like I said, I used the Stainless Screws. Now you can see what it looks like. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48422-3-console-screws-towards-back/#findComment-456829 Share on other sites
October 9, 201410 yr comment_456830 Black oxide coating was original. You can order them, or use gun bluing to oxide color steel screws. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48422-3-console-screws-towards-back/#findComment-456830 Share on other sites
