Posted February 1, 201411 yr comment_440793 Im upgrading the suspension on the 280. The shocks are blown, all the bushings are cracked, but not all is bad the original owner started doing some upgrades (installed msa blue springs) before he sold the car. I ordered a new set of kybs, a master set of poly bushings and front and rear sway bars. So far ive only installed the front sway bar and the steering bushing that goes between the rack and the steering shaft Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48467-swaybar-upgrade-st-swaybar-install-front-and-rear/ Share on other sites
February 8, 201411 yr Author comment_441309 Some more pics , I ended up cutting the fronts coils (-1 coil) didnt seem to make a huge difference in height, all the bushings were replace except the trans mounts and rack and pinion. The car sticks to the road now, i could not be happier with the upgrade. Lucky for me the previous owner had already replaced the spindle pins and they came off by hand. So now i have a set of brand new pins sitting in my tool box :/ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48467-swaybar-upgrade-st-swaybar-install-front-and-rear/#findComment-441309 Share on other sites

If you didn't put a new bend in the spring end for the perch seat then you ended up at the same height with the same number of active coils. You just cut the seat of the spring off. The picture of the cut piece kind of shows that. Easy to miss since "coil" is a fairly generic word. February 9, 201411 yr comment_441326 Depending on the style of driving and the condition of your Z you might want to inspect the frame where the new front sway bar has been installed for stress cracks and separation of the frame form the inner fender wheel. The new bracket design may help reduce this stress effect. You might also find an issue with the rear sway bar as a spacer needs to be placed to move the bar back as much as a 1/2 inch to provide better clearance. It also makes filling the diff a bit more difficult.
