Posted February 24, 200322 yr comment_27772 Anyone had experience getting the original Hitachi radio repaired? I called around in the Portland area with not much success. The shops told me that it will cost $45 just to open and inspect and repairs, if possible, could cost another $60 or $70. February 25, 200322 yr comment_27856 I would open the radio yourself and just look around for discolored items and you may find the cause an if you can replace. Or you may want to contact the local Community College or look for an old semi retired TV / Radio repairman that still likes to tinker. February 25, 200322 yr comment_27865 I agree with Owen.Thats why I was curious of the problem. Most failures in electronic are often just a poor (cold)soldier connection.I have had very good success in finding those in alot of items. My best was a 27" picture in picture stereo TV.The picture was purple and was given to me as junk.On the circuit card one resistor moved when I wiggled it.20minutes laterI have a super garage TV!! February 25, 200322 yr comment_27867 Wow good catch Daniel, but to everyone else out there please be aware that on TVs there is some very very very high voltage items that have a charge after the TV is disconnected from a power source. The high voltage can stop your heart:dead: so before you very go into a TV please make sure you have been shown how to discharge the this high voltage. February 25, 200322 yr comment_27868 AGREED!!! That cathode will zap you hard!! Sort of off the subject but lately I have repaired about 5 cd players for friends. The problem is the drawer either opens intermit or not at all.The fix for all of them is to give the spring on the back of the drawer one turn to tighten its pull.In the days of vcrs only about 3 companies made the parts and all the numerous vendors just changed the case and applied their name.I'm starting to think cd's are the same since the units I repaired were various, jvc, sony, etc. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4861-hitachi-radio-repair/#findComment-27868 Share on other sites

March 18, 200322 yr comment_30307 Factory (working) Datsun/Hitachi AM/FM radio and fascia. Harness and antenna jack included. Looks almost new, however it is missing the tuning and volume knobs.http://www.classicZcars.com/forums/editpost.php?s=&action=editpost&postid=32494 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4861-hitachi-radio-repair/#findComment-30307 Share on other sites
