parts worth grabbing off 83 maxima?

There is an 83 maxima auto in craigslist here in town, being parted out. I was thinking of taking the electronic ignition system, but wasn't sure if it would work easily. Also I'm redoing my back brakes right nd was wondering if they are the same or at least a direct swap when there drums or if they are discs are they a direct swap? Are there any other parts off this that I should go after. Mine is a 260z 4 speed. Are the springs the same? Thought about grabbing them so I can cut a set, and have a back up set incase it's too low.

The ignition system might be worth getting. Your 260Z already has electronic ignition though, but the 83 Maxima might be a little more developed (higher energy). It won't have the E12-80 module though, so you'd have swap one in or figure out how to make the other module work (it will have more pins). The brakes are disc, so nothing there. The diff maybe, I think it's an R180, you might have an R200 though, so little benefit. The Maxima uses a different suspension system, trailing link in the back, not sure on the front. Not much to get really, the 5 speeds swap over but you're looking at an auto.

You could swap the complete L24E engine and EFI system in (assuming it's not a diesel). It would fit. The exhaust system might need work though.

If that's the one with the 4 speed transmission (with the overdrive and lockup torque converter) then the transmission is a bolt-up deal for the 280Z engine. That's the trans I want for my car (with the overdrive and lockup torque converter.) Plus the torque converter, flywheel, bell housing, prop shaft, and control wires (if it has electric lockup.)

I think that you would, for the injector notches in the intake ports, and the bolt holes for the intake manifold. But it might not be a bad combination. The combustion chamber is a little bit smaller than an E88 head, 39 cc versus 42, so the CR would be bumped up to about 9:1. It might also have a larger exhaust valve. But it will have a Maxima camshaft, which is probably not as performance-oriented. Could be worth doing but you'll end up with EFI problems instead of carb problems. If you go EFI it might worth grabbing the Maxima electric fuel pump too, if it's still external. Seems like a lot of work for not much benefit and many potential pitfalls, unless you want EFI. Probably the best head to use though if you want to swap carbs for EFI on an L26 block.

Just getting sick of duel carbs, but I think I'm finally close to having them right. Sounds like the kind of thing to have on the shelf though. If I did decide to do it I could just swap cams, as I think mine has a hot cam in it already.
