Okay, I couldn't resist. I saw a '73 on Craigslist that 1) looked fairly pristine 2) seemed well priced 3) was very close by and 4) had a cool seller. Smog equipment is gone and car has '72 carbs. All else is original.

I'm knee deep in a truck frame swap that I'm working on, so it's not like I have the time, but you all know the story.

The seller's grandmother was the original owner, the seller was number 2. 75,000 on the clock, original paint (don't get me wrong, the paint is worn out and the hood was primed due to the paint flaking off but it's lime green/yellow which I've always liked) and the only rust is some spots on the passenger's dogleg.

The car has been sitting for a long time, and is not quite running. I should have it delivered tomorrow. I know I owe pics, so I'll shoot them when I get it.

First order of business will be fuel and vent lines since they're completely rotted. ONE QUESTION I have for you: when I was redoing the lines on my current '73 I read a post here from someone that summarized all of the hose sizes to replace with non original hoses. I've been searching but can't locate the thread. Does anyone know where that thread is?

I did find a couple of cancer spots on the underside, but they seem to be pretty limited in area.

Battery is dead, but with the charger on, all electrical seems to be functional.

Once I change the fuel lines and the fluids I will try to get her running.

Quick update...I replaced all fuel lines, refurbed the carbs and got her running (with oil that I drained from my other Z-call it a transfusion, and a battery "borrowed" from my roadster). Took her to the gas station for her first fill in years. The motor runs and idles great and pulls hard, and the brakes are at least as good as my other car. I did notice a bit of clutch slippage, so a new disk is in the near future, but overall this seems to be a solid start.

I hope to have have her roadworthy soon.

In case anyone is interested in the progress, this car is now roadworthy.

In addition to changing out fuel lines and boiling out the tank I have replaced the clutch, patched some rust holes in the floor, and cleaned and rust proofed most of the interior. The car runs great, and it looks like I will be selling it to a friend of mine. I'm glad to get this car back into circulation. At the same time, another friend of mine recently told me, "I have come to realize that I was not put on this earth to resurrect old cars." I had some downtime on another project, so I did have the time to work on this car, but at the same time, I have an appreciation for his comments. I think we all do this because we love the cars so much.
