Posted March 31, 201410 yr comment_444603 Hello all! I'm refreshing the underside of my '71 Z and after reading lots of posts on here I have a simple questions.. Should I order parts from Motorsport or Zcarsource (or another, better source)? The price of the parts differs quite a bit (bearings, seals, brake lines/pads, etc..) and I know you get what you pay for but can anyone offer me advice or steer me in the correct direction? Is one source better or more reliable than the other? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! March 31, 201410 yr comment_444609 I have ordered from both and had positive experiences. In the case of maintenance parts i just head over to O'reilly and get parts over the counter. Regular auto parts stores have everything you need to keep the car running and if you haven't noticed maintenance type parts are dirt cheap for the Z's. If i need used stuff i get them from my local wrecking yard and Z Specialties Online Store - If we don't have it in stock, we can get it! . Black dragon has also been a good source for some of my parts Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48904-motorsport-vs-zcarsource-parts/#findComment-444609 Share on other sites
March 31, 201410 yr comment_444610 Don't forget RockAuto.com if you have time to wait for shipping and buy enough to reduce shipping costs. And Amazon, it's surprising what's available there. It really depends on the part and how long you want it to last. March 31, 201410 yr comment_444625 I try to get a part number of what I want, usually from rockauto.com, then just google.com it. If you have an Advanced Auto, go to retailmenot.com and use the coupon codes to buy online then go to the store and pick it up. When I rebuilt mine they had a code for $10 off every $25 you spent. Unbelievable! Counter guys said they're trying to build up their on-line business. At MSA tell them your Member ID # from this forum and get 10% off. April 3, 201410 yr comment_444921 I'd like to point out some caution on advanced auto: They don't have any stores anywhere on the west coast, I think the closest one is in CO. If you buy a part and it fails 1: its a PITA to get them to exchange it and 2: you are responsible for shipping whats likely a heavy metal object far far away. At this point its safer to buy from rock auto or a company that has at least a nearby presence. i have only needed to exchange one item with Rock Auto but they made it easy and paid for return shipping. April 3, 201410 yr comment_444955 If I were start over I would buy everything possible at rockauto because of their prices, then Z car source and MSA would be last on my list.
