Posted April 2, 201411 yr comment_444801 Early Series 1 240Z's had a valve cover that had "NISSAN 2400 OHC" written on them. Later S1's changed to read "NISSAN OHC" . Can anyone tell me which years had which valve cover? Any idea if there is a range of engine block numbers that had one or the other valve cover? Thanks in advanceTony V.'71 S1 240ZHLS30-17268 Edited April 2, 201411 yr by auzziez Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/48924-valve-cover-info/ Share on other sites
April 2, 201411 yr comment_444809 According to Carl Beck the valve cover change occurred at the same time as the introduction of the automatic transmission at SN 8944. April 2, 201411 yr comment_444820 carl knows far more about these things than i do... and maybe more than anyone... but ~ 10317 (9/70) came to me with a 2400 cover in place. perhaps there were stragglers? or the cover may be more specifically linked to the engine number (and the engines weren't installed sequentially)? or... maybe a previous owner installed the 2400 cover on my car..? ironically, i pulled mine off to have it polished and installed a later cover for the interim, then sold the car, then the 2400 cover, then bought the car back, and have since bought another 2400 cover that's now hanging on the garage wall... but that's an unrelated twisted tale. anyway, i'm interested to hear if anyone has a z with a VIN higher than 9xxx who can say for certain that the car came with the 2400 cover...
