Hey im kinda new to the whole Z-car thing everybody, so if i sound stupid, im sorry. Alright i have read up bout my car, a 71 240, it has a holley 4bbl carburetor, and preformance headers, (6to2to1) I love my car, I was wondering other ways to get more zip outta my car, its a daily driver, and im lookin to smoke most of those fart cannon, ricers out there. My budget is kinda small round bout 300-500 dollars. Any help at all would be excellent, thanks alot guys.

well if your looking for straight line zip and with that much money, I would personally check out my diff ratio.

If it is track orientated zip you want, sink your money into suspension.:devious:

I agree with biker, changing the differential to a 3.9 or 4.11 ratio would give you more zip.

Lowering the diff ratio is probably the only way to increase your performance with your budget of $500. You'll hurt your top end unless you change to a 280 or 280ZX 5 speed, but that will be out of your budget for the time being.....

If you do the zx tranny and not the lower rear end gears you wont be happy off the line, as the trans gearing is higher than what you have now. You need to do both , if only one go for the diff.

Or you could put a different cam in, and get a bit more power. The holley should be up to it. driveability may suffer.

What happend to your twin hitachi's?
