Posted April 23, 201410 yr comment_446456 A couple of years ago I purchased a california 76 2+2 with a 5 speed trany. From what I've read, the 76 never came with a 5 speed so a previuos owner must have put one in from either a 240Z or a 280ZX. I'd like to know what year vehicle the trany came from, but I can't seem to find any numbers or codes on the trany itself, however, the top flange on the bell housing has the numbers;7310524Can anyone tell me if that number has any meaning with regards to ID'ing the trany?ThanksGary Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/49101-manual-5-speed-trany-id/ Share on other sites
April 23, 201410 yr comment_446457 Post #8 is about the only way I could find to determine anything, it's like they're UFOs or something.Transmission Identification Info - Nissan : Datsun ZCar forum :Nissan Z Forum: 240Z to 370ZI'll add a lesson I learned the hard way from Eurodat, 280ZX 2+2s have the wide ratio transmission no matter the year. April 27, 201410 yr comment_446693 ZBUM's Z31 Transmission Information PageTry that link to get started. I have "supposedly" a T5 Borg Warner that I'm trying to figure out some questions on myself. My issues relate to whether or not my gear ratio and this "T5" together are a good marriage....
